The Coming of the Light
You say the light is coming
You have seen it before
Preparations made
Joy in the air
You sing as you skip
Petticoat hangs below hem
Hop over mudpuddls
Spin around
Skirt red
Hat on your head of red
Snow covered yesterday
This morning clear and shinning
joy for all
Earlier the light was coming
Now the light is here
We struggle to stay afloat
Avoid drowning
The smell of tadpoles
Surrounds us
The sound of bullfrogs
Calling…….calling
I remember it was summer
The sun hot
We sat in the sun together
You asked if I minded your nakedness
Sometimes all one can say is... WOW! .. this is such a time. A masterful piece!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this...seems like a wonderful memory! I liked the surprising last stanza.
ReplyDeleteMy spirits lifted, as the light increased, someone jumped over a puddle, and the frogs started singing. Just wonderful, Annell.
ReplyDeleteThe light does avoid us from drowning - this poem captures your heart and life. Beautiful words.
