THE RIO GRANDE GORGE
It was a day like any other day
The sun shines
Clouds form over head
In a clear blue sky
Suddenly the ground shakes
Plates move
Man and beast run for their lives
The gorge is formed
The river runs through it
Digging deeper
The scene is breath taking
Jaw dropping
A true phenomenon
In that instant
The world changed
As it does every day…
Maybe not so drastically
Still, it often feels like it
We should run
Yet we don’t know in what direction
What a wonderful example of a rift. It looks majestic! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful example of a rift!. I can see the breathtaking scene.
ReplyDelete"Suddenly the ground shakes
ReplyDeletePlates move
Man and beast run for their lives" as today we might should run . . . a gorgeous poem! With a river running through it.
What arresting imagery and concisely expressed as well - and of course and most importantly so wonderful to read your words again - Jae
ReplyDeleteA rift can change our world and those of us who run in the right direction will be saved to enjoy the new majestic view created by the subterranean forces. As you say, there are no signs "Please walk this way" - we have have to find the safe path ourselves...
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see you again Annell with this beautiful poem! It's true literally and metaphorically when a rift is created it's difficult to find the safe way to wellbeing.
